What is the best electric guitar for a beginner?

I’m 15, and I play drums, anything percussion, and piano too. I have wanted to learn to play Guitar all my life. I read music and am willing to learn tabs. I love classic rock, metal, and everything in between. I also think SGs are awesome. please tell me what you think would e best. =]
Im willing to play prob up to $600 cause this is important to me, Id rather have a guitar than a car…

I learned on a Fender Strat and it was really good for a beginner in my opinion.

    Hi Casia

Take a look at Squier if you need a twangy clean sound or an Epiphone for a more blues rock sound. Epiphone has a slightly better neck, more sustain, a fatter sound than Squier. If oyu love metal and rock, choose the Epiphone Les Paul or better still, Jackson. That depends on your budget.

Personally, I use an old Les Paul 1963 and an old Fender but my favorite is a Jackson 24 fret active electronic pickups.

I definitely recommend the Epiphone Les Paul. If you are looking for a guitar that you are gonna keep all your life, then go for the Gibson Les Paul.
Either way a Les Paul is the way you gotta go, which one is up to you and most especially, to your budget!!

either one is good for a beginner, after you develope your skills you have an idea what guitars you like best and will probably want to go more expensive anyway.

There’s a squire fender for sale in guitarcenter for $199.

Yep you’re right on thinking SGs are awesome. I think they’re just the best first electric guitar you should get and are great value, as they are versatile, sound great and look brilliant. The Gibson SGs are a bit out of your price range though, so you may have to go for the cheaper Epiphone SG. I have one as my first electric guitar, have owned it for a year and I wouldn’t have gotten any other guitar for that price range, it’s just brilliant.

Ibanez Artcore ;-) Lovely look, Sweet Sounding i learnt on one myself.

  • M. Ahmad:

Just get a Fender Squier Stratocaster. It’s cheap and a great beginning guitar. If you have a lot of money left over use it on a high quality amp because then you don’t have to get a new one for a pretty long time.

  • drideout:

Ibanez has some VERY good guitars for

  • Jerry L:

SG’s are perfect for any beginner, start taking lessons if you have not already, this will help beyond belief, you’ll be in a band before you know it.
    Good Luck to you,
